The Immortal Whirlwind Barbarian lives or dies by small gear choices. You can have the right build on paper and still feel oddly flat in high-tier content if the rolls are messy. That's why every upgrade needs a purpose, whether you're farming, trading, or checking resources like Diablo 4 runes while planning your next push. Start with the mythic helm. Critical Strike Chance should be the masterwork target, not some random utility stat. Movement Speed is fine, sure, but Lucky Hit Chance doesn't really pull its weight here. If it shows up where Crit could be, it's basically stealing power from the build.

Chest armor should keep the spin going

The chest slot is where many players get a bit too relaxed. Don't treat it as just another defensive piece. Fury Generation matters a lot because Whirlwind feels awful when it drops at the wrong time. If you're always dipping out of Fury, your damage rhythm breaks and Selig has less room to do its job. For defenses, All Resistance is usually the safer pick over a single element. Cold Resistance or another specific roll can work for a while, but it's not the piece you want to keep forever. Replace it when a cleaner chest appears.

Gohr's gloves need real investment

Gohr's Devastating Grips aren't there just because they look good on a build planner. They need to be worked on. Leaving them with poor masterwork hits is one of those mistakes you feel but don't always notice right away. Aim those masterwork crits at Critical Strike Chance. That's the stat that keeps the damage climbing. The temper should also support big Overpower bursts, so Damage for Overpower is worth chasing. Check the unique power roll at the bottom too. If it's sitting near the low end, don't shrug and move on. Rerolling that value can turn a decent pair into something much nastier.

Pants and boots can't be leftovers

Old 850 item power pants or boots with no Greater Affixes are usually holding the character back. It's easy to ignore them because the build still feels tanky, but speed and clean stats matter when you're trying to farm fast or push harder content. Boots should have Movement Speed as a Greater Affix if you're serious about the setup. The dream is getting close to that 300 percent movement speed feel, where dungeons stop feeling like a walk and start feeling like a sweep. Better boots also make elite fights less clumsy because you can reposition without breaking flow.

Weapons and jewelry have no room for fluff

For weapons, keep it simple. Aspect of Limitless Rage fits the build well because it rewards a large Fury pool and steady spending. Across your weapon slots, Critical Strike Chance and raw Weapon Damage should be treated as must-haves. If a weapon misses those, it needs to offer something truly special, and most don't. The Ring of Starless Skies is excellent for resource sustain, restoration, and cooldown help, but Lucky Hit Chance is still a dead-feeling roll for this style. You want Critical Strike Chance there instead, because Whirlwind scales so much better when the core damage stats line up.

Selig is only finished when it's socketed

Melted Heart of Selig is the piece that gives the build its famous stubbornness. It turns incoming damage into resource loss, which is exactly why Fury management can't be treated like a side issue. But there's one mistake that's painfully common: running the amulet without a socket. Use a prism and fix it. An unsocketed Selig is leaving power on the table for no good reason.
